Introducing DogStar Revolution Recovery: Why I Believe Recovery Should Be as Individual as the Person

When I think about recovery, I do not see a single path, a checklist, or a one-size-fits-all program. I see a person—someone with a unique history, strengths, struggles, responsibilities, hopes, and vision for the future.

That belief is at the heart of DogStar Revolution Recovery.

I believe recovery should be about more than simply stopping substance use. It should help people reconnect with themselves, understand the patterns that have shaped their lives, build practical stability, and begin creating a future that genuinely feels worth protecting.

Why DogStar Revolution Recovery Is Different

In my experience, lasting recovery requires both compassion and accountability. People deserve to be supported without judgment, but they also need honesty, consistency, structure, and someone willing to walk beside them through the difficult parts of change.

Our recovery coaching is individualized, relationship-based, trauma-informed, and grounded in authentic human connection. We do not define people by their past, diagnoses, mistakes, incarceration, or setbacks. We help them recognize their strengths, identify barriers, and take realistic steps toward the life they want to build.

Our coaches help participants with recovery planning, relapse-prevention strategies, healthy routines, emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, employment, education, identification documents, transportation, healthcare connections, community resources, and successful reintegration following incarceration.

We meet people where they are—but we do not leave them there.

Recovery Involves the Whole Person

I believe the mind and body cannot be separated from the recovery process. Many people enter recovery after spending years in survival mode. Their stress responses, sleep, nutrition, relationships, daily routines, and sense of safety may all have been affected.

That is why our approach extends beyond traditional recovery conversations. Depending on a participant’s interests and individual needs, our supportive wellness services may incorporate:

  • EFT tapping

  • Breathwork

  • Mindfulness and meditation

  • Somatic grounding

  • Nervous-system education

  • Subconscious-pattern awareness

  • Neuro-informed recovery education

  • Yoga and intentional movement

  • Sound baths

  • Nutritional wellness

  • Recovery-conscious Ayurvedic products

  • Creative and experiential wellness practices

These services are not presented as quick fixes or replacements for medical or behavioral-health treatment. They are additional tools that may help people become more aware of their internal experiences, manage stress, interrupt automatic reactions, and develop healthier responses.

I want participants to have the opportunity to explore different approaches and discover what genuinely works for them.

Peer Support Strengthened by Professional Accountability

Our recovery coaching and peer-support services are non-clinical. Our coaches do not diagnose, provide psychotherapy, manage medications, or operate outside their professional scope.

At the same time, our team has access to clinical oversight and supervision. I believe that authentic peer connection becomes even stronger when it is supported by ethical guidance, appropriate boundaries, responsible documentation, continuing education, and clear procedures for referrals and safety concerns.

Clinical oversight does not turn peer support into clinical treatment. It helps our team provide non-clinical services responsibly and recognize when someone needs assistance from a licensed or medical professional.

Creating a Place for Connection

The DogStar Wellness Center reflects another part of our vision: creating a welcoming space where people can breathe, move, learn, connect, and experience wellness without feeling as though they have entered an institution.

Our growing offerings include sound baths, yoga, breathwork, and other mind-body experiences. The center is located near public transportation to help reduce access barriers. It also includes a community donation closet where individuals can access clean clothing and shoes with dignity.

To me, these details matter. Recovery is affected by whether someone has transportation, appropriate clothing, identification, meaningful relationships, a safe community, and somewhere they feel welcome. Addressing those practical needs is not separate from recovery—it is part of it.

Expanding Our Continuum of Care

We are also developing Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Program services. Our future PHP and IOP programs are intended to combine evidence-based clinical treatment with the whole-person, innovative approach that defines DogStar.

These programs are still in development and are not yet open for enrollment. As licensing, approvals, staffing, credentialing, and program development move forward, we will share additional information about services, schedules, eligibility, and enrollment.

Recovery After Incarceration

Community reintegration is especially important to me. Returning from incarceration can mean facing barriers involving housing, employment, transportation, identification, healthcare, benefits, legal obligations, relationships, and stigma—all at once.

We help participants navigate these realities without reducing them to where they have been. Reintegration should be about more than avoiding re-incarceration. It should create a genuine opportunity to establish stability, restore connection, pursue purpose, and build a meaningful life within the community.

Why the Dog Star?

For generations, the Dog Star has been associated with guidance and direction. That symbolism reflects how I view our role.

We are not here to control someone’s journey or decide who they should become. We are here to provide direction when the path feels unclear, remain steady when circumstances become difficult, and help each participant recognize that they are still the author of their own future.

DogStar Revolution Recovery is not built around perfection. It is built around possibility.

I believe people can change. I believe setbacks do not erase progress. I believe accountability can exist without shame, and professional services can still feel deeply human. Most of all, I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build a life defined by more than their hardest chapter.

That is the revolution we are creating—one person, one connection, and one courageous next step at a time.

DogStar Revolution Recovery provides supportive recovery coaching and wellness services. Coaching and peer support are non-clinical and do not replace medical care, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, or substance-use treatment. DogStar Revolution Recovery is separate from DogStar Recovery Residences, and coaching services are separate from housing.
